About A Diabetic Exchange DietA diabetic exchange diet means that you are diabetic, and you have a table. That table says that if a recipe calls for one piece of bread, you can exchange that one piece of bread for any other thing that's in that list. 1 slice bread (4-inch square) Since starches and sugars are the things you have to watch, if you are a diabetic, then they are the things that are generally on the list. ? cup of cooked pasta equals ? cup of green peas, they say. Now, even though they say that they are equal. In no way are they equal as far as how your body deals with them. Pasta, being made of white flour, is a food for yeast. There is a kind of yeast that lives in our bodies called Candida albicans which tends to take over our colons if we have taken antibiotics in our past (which everybody in America does) and didn't repopulate. Candida could care less about peas. It doesn't grow on peas, nor does it like peas. So, you will feel lots worse if you eat pasta than you will if you eat peas. Thus, although their exchange program works for diabetics, it isn't necessarily a healthy thing to do for most normal people. A protein diet plan means that you are supplementing your diet with liquid whey protein, either in a powder form that you have to mix up, or a liquid form. A diabetic exchange diet does care, though; so make sure you watch the list and trade off one-for-one if you have diabetes. A vegetarian diet plan is a plan which introduces lots of vitamins and minerals in the form of organic vegetables and fruits. In such a diet, generally, things like white flour is eliminated, as are alcohol, spaghetti, pizza, bagels¡ and instead (as long as one isn't lactose intolerant) one eats lots of yogurt or other soured milk products along with nuts, berries, fruits, seeds, and a bit of meat if your conscience doesn't mind. A meal plan will ensure that you're not breaking your plan. It's so easy for your diet to just creep back to what it was before you tried changing it. A vegetables diabetic diet is what you go on if you have diabetes and want to balance the glucose blood sugar levels. Fruits, because they are made of fructose instead of glucose, break down slower in the body and don't cause the severe ups and downs that glucose can; but they still have to be monitored and carefully followed if you are diabetic. A diabetic exchange diet needs to be watched carefully, particularly if you take injections of insulin and are on medications that help stabilize your diet. |
